When other treatment options do not work, acid reflux can often be treated by means of surgery.
Typically, this happens when drug therapy fails, or the patient has severe bleeding and other physical discomforts, that indicate an invasive surgical intervention.
The standard surgical procedure that is done for Acid Reflux sufferers is called the Nissen fundoplication.
Originally, the Nissen fundoplication was a very lengthy and serious procedure that resulted in a post surgery stay at the hospital of at least one week, not to mention a ten inch scar.
In the early days of this surgery, patients often developed worsening symptoms of acid reflux and had difficulty swallowing.
Laparoscopic surgery has made great progress technologically in the past twenty-five years. Patients are now chosen for surgery in a more efficient manner, using a pathological diagnostic test. Most problems that doctors originally had to deal with when performing this surgery have been resolved.
The surgery can be compared to what you might do to prevent the contents of a room from being washed away by a typhoon or flash flood.
Surgery is conducted to support and strengthen the Lower Esophageal Sphincter muscle by giving it support from stomach tissue. Since the Lower Esophageal Sphincter is the gateway from the esophagus to the stomach, it is natural to consider stomach tissue , which is then stretched to work around the sphincter, and permanently fixed there, so as to give the required support.
The following step is to return the part of the stomach extending out from underneath the diaphragm, called the hiatal hernia, back to its rightful location. Abdominal pressure is successfully reduced because of correcting any hiatal hernia and supporting the muscles of the esophageal sphincter. The entire procedure protects the body from gastric juice backflows that are usually brought on because of certain combinations of food.
The esophageal passage must sometimes be cared for because of ulceration and scarring. Surgery of this sort boasts a success rate of 95% and keeps the patient from needing to take other medications to alleviate the once terrible pain of acid reflux.

Your cat has a hard time telling you when she’s ill. Here are some of the major cat illness symptom categories and how to spot problems.
Pay attention to changes in your cat’s behavior as this can indicate signs of illness. Cats tend to disguise signs of pain and illness as a throw-back to their wild days.
Urination and defecation — Cats are subject to a number of issues and illnesses involving defecation and urination.
FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease) is a group of problems and can involve stones, crystals, infection, or inflammation. Some of these urinary tract problems can be life threatening.
Cats self-groom regularly, but excessive licking in the anal or groin area can be a sign of illness. If your cat is urinating more often than normal, this can be a sign of an illness such as diabetes.
Constipation is fairly common in cats. Treatments are available for this, and include store bought and veterinarian prescribed treatments such as lactulose.
Constipation over the long term may lead to a serious bowel condition known as megacolon. Impacted anal glands may present and will require treatment.
If your cat is dragging her rear end on the floor she may have impacted anal glands or a bad case of constipation. If your cat makes frequent but unsuccessful trips to the litter box, or cries out while using the box, she may have a problem that needs to be looked at.
Inappropriate elimination is very prevalent and has any number of physical and behavioral causes. If you notice that your cat is not using the litter box, always assume a physical cause may be at work. If your cat is not urinating or defecating or is missing the litter box, contact your veterinarian.
Other problems to look for are blood in urine or feces, including black tarry stools. If your cat has diarrhea, it may lead to dehydration, which can be fatal.
Mouth and eye problems — Check your cat’s eyes for uneven pupils, cloudiness, or discharge. The nictating membrane, or haw, is a “third eyelid” that you will sometimes see when a cat’s eyes are open. This can be an indication of disease.
Ulcers in the mouth, bad breath, and loose teeth are signs of disease. Pallor of the gums and lips is a sign that your cat may be anemic.
Hair and skin issues — The coat and skin of your cat can be used as a measure of her overall condition of health. Problems with the coat or skin can be a sign of illness.
In addition, if your cat stops grooming or looks disheveled, it’s probably a sign of trouble. An oily looking coat is also a sign of illness.
Parasites are usually easily spotted on the skin or coat on the belly. Your cat should be checked at least once per week. Also look for excessive dryness or flaking, hair loss, skin growths, and any kind of swelling or skin eruption.
These are a few of the major categories of cat health problems. Keeping alert to your cat’s routine, and being sensitive to any of the possible above problems is an essential part of cat care.

Fad weight loss diets don’t work - period. And the sad fact is that nearly every new weight loss diet you hear about in the popular press is lust a fad diet. These diets, and many of the others currently doing the rounds, are just fads. They only work for a very short period of time, they only work for a small segment of the population, and most of the weight lost is quickly regained in a very short space of time.
Only a few diets work for a lot of people, and these diets are really lifestyle changes rather than diets. They don’t impose overly restrictive and impossible restrictions on you that simply can’t work over the long term. They work because they respect and appreciate your body and how it was meant to work. They teach you how to succeed over the long haul, not just in the short term.
The truth of the matter is that people really do love to eat. A major part of the joy of eating is the taste and the smell of the food. This creates the total experience. It just so happens that people sometimes really love to go for food that is basically “bad” for them. Many of these foods have smell and taste characteristics that are just too hard to resist for too many people.
This can make it very difficult to keep up with a weight loss program and stay away from these types of tempting foods. Too much exposure to tempting foods (as well as giving in to them and eating them) can cause your diet to fail. Couple that with the sub-optimal eating habits that many have established, and even the most dedicated of dieters can fail.
However, because people are individuals, metabolisms and tastes as well as other dietary factors differ. Different people can have different triggers that make them eat inappropriately, or turn to unhealthy foods.
Some people struggle to stay thin, while others struggle to gain weight. Some people should avoid simple carbohydrates while others don’t have to as much. Those who must avoid simple carbohydrates (and often struggle to) may not be able to cope with the excess sugar simple carbohydrates stress the body with. Still other people have trouble metabolizing cholesterol or fat. This means that a single weight loss program isn’t going to work for everyone, because it simply can’t. We’re simply not the same.
But there is at least one new method of weight loss that is not a fad. One that does not make empty promises. This is a weight loss program that is not a diet at all. It is a holistic method that has been scientifically put to the test. This is one of those methods that pays respect to the way the body really works. It involves the taste and scent. And as they say, the nose knows.
Medical director of the Body Metabolism Institute Dr. Leon Massage has founded a highly successful, respected weight loss program in Melbourne, Australia. He was looking for a way that was safe and natural and that didn’t use drugs to help his patients control appetite and avoid binging. As he did his investigation, he came across some research done by the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. The research utilised 108 overweight volunteers whose average age was 48 and whose average weight was 197 pounds. Their average body mass index was 31, with a BMI (body mass index) of over 30 considered obese.
Over the course of six months, the group was given two different types of different flavored crystals every month, and they were asked to sprinkle these crystals on their food at every meal. Otherwise, they were asked to continue their normal eating and exercise patterns, if applicable. At the end of six months, 92 of the volunteers had finished the study, or 85.1%. The group lost an average of 33.6 pounds, or 5.6 pounds per month.
The study concluded that specific smells and tastes could induce a feeling of satiety, or of being full. This occurs even if you eat the same foods you always do and even if you don’t exercise beyond normal limits. Because you’re naturally full, you have no desire to overeat or to eat in a way that’s out of balance with your own personal body chemistry. This means that you’ll naturally begin to lose weight and will get to your own personal ideal weight range or BMI. You don’t need to force behavioral changes that are often painful in order to lose weight.
Dr. Massage has created the BMI Weight Loss Wristband. The wristband utilises special scents that suppress hunger. The wristband is worn during the day; simply sniff the wristband when you feel tempted to eat more than you know you should. The wristband also uses something called neuro-association to strengthen the anti-binging eating effects of the smells impregnated onto the wristband. The smell of the infused scents create positive neuro-associations with these smells and tastes that result in hunger suppression.
Losing weight should now no longer be painful. With Dr. Massage’s wristband, losing weight becomes effortless, natural, painless, and most of all sustainable. The results speak for themselves

It was Alvarez Y Garcia’s organization that first started making Romeo Y Julieta Cigars and he was just keeping it for local distributions. Originally, the Romeo Y Julieta cigars were never meant for anyone outside of Cuba. Although the Cubans are known to be excellent marketers (Considering the Cigar ban and stuff), the Romeo Y Julieta brand was just not allowed to go out at all. It’s funny because now they are all over the place.
A well known business man should be thanked for introducing us to the Romeo Y Julieta cigars. The man and the legend that was known as “Pepin”. Pepin was known to be man who was always moving or making things happen. I guess you can say he was the Donald Trump of his days or the Bill Gates of Cuban cigars. He was the single force behind inventing, creating and marketing one of the most cherished Cuban cigar brands in the world which is the Romeo Y Julieta cigars.
By taking the Romeo Y Julieta cigars and introducing them directly to the Royal personalities of England the great, everyone who smoked one literally fell in love with it. They were being passed around faster than the salon girls of the wild wild west in good old Texas. The Romeo Y Julieta cigar from their took a life of it’s own and soon ended up in other parts of Europe right in the hands of queens and kings. The income generated here helped Pepin take this brand to another level.
“They are my kids” as Pepin often referred to his Cuban cigars. Pepin had incredible quality control and established one of the most robust factories ever to create cigars or Cuban cigars in this case. Everything that came out of the factory had to go through one of the best quality control team ever assembled for the production of Cuban cigars. It was the quality of the Romeo Y Julieta cigars that helped the brand gain worldwide fame and stature in the long run.
It was Pepin’s amazing product and drive that has made the Romeo Y Julieta most sought after Cuban cigar brand in England and the rest of the world. The English really enjoy the Romeo Y Julieta connection as well just like the famous stage play that also is embedded in every English literature fan or fans of love from all over the globe. The Romeo Y Julieta is a very unique brand and represents nothing less than a fine Cuban cigar.
